Steel Light Horse—We Will Remember Them - Limited Edition Print Fundraiser 2021
Laura’s Horses for Special Forces fundraiser for 2021, is Steel Light Horse & The Ode. Laura gives deep and somber thanks to all who have served our country. After an exceedingly rough year for the special forces community, Laura draws focus on the lives given for country, and the sacrifices made by many.
“It’s a complex time and world we live within, and unfortunately, freedom is never free. There are so very many real costs to lives, and of lives. There are so many who return home from the battle field and the fight within continues until they can no longer go on. So many incredibly capable individuals who have lost their battles since coming home. We must act. Each year we say Lest We Forget, and then mostly move on with our lives, curtailing our worlds for comfort and minimal offence. This year I ask us to remember such a crucial part of The Ode: ‘Nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.’ This year I have combined a Light Horse with a Special Forces soldier who gave his life for our country in Afghanistan. There is a photo of him astride his four wheeler, and I saw it was a steel pony he rode on the same continent the Light Horses fought more than a century earlier. He carries a banner for all those soldiers unnamed who’ve lost their battles off the field. His horse carries a Meritorious Unit Citation insignia. I realise all the time I am so far from ever truly understanding all they have endured. I remain unwavering in my support of these boys and their families.”
May we never forget the sacrifices given, past, present and future, for our freedoms.

Laura remains wholly passionate in her support of this wonderful not for profit organisation Wandering Warriors who work so hard to support our special forces boys and their families, assisting them in immediate ways, uniquely tailored to the specific situation of those serving; transitioning to civilian life; and those past servicemen, and their families. All profits from these prints go directly to Wandering Warriors and Commando Welfare Trust, and are passed on swiftly and with consideration to where its most needed.
