Douglas conjures the delight of her childhood spent running barefoot on bold red sandhills in this work. Wildflowers and coral-like succulents provide a forest for tiny sand ponies to gallop beneath.

Part of Laura's Douglasestodesert show inspired by her family's trip to Lake Eyre. The incredible and resilient flora was a carnival of strength and beauty to Laura. This work explores the micro worlds within the broad and vast desert vistas.

The vast pans of the Strzelecki Desert and her beautiful, soft saltbush rounds at dusk are captured by Douglas with freedom and light, with tiny horses in indigo shadows.

Taking in a lifetime of gentle, quiet and peaceful silhouettes of dusk have etched the positive and negative spaces into Douglas' heart. These horizons are painted with this sensation firmly in mind, often painted en plein air, her translations of her favourite day's moment.
